I am most distressed to hear that Saratoga’s code enforcement officers have thought it necessary to shut down our beloved Canfield Casino. If it is too dangerous to remain open it begs the question: Why were the vulnerable areas of the Casino (the ceiling) not properly maintained and fixed?
This is a stain on our city’s stellar reputation as a first class destination place with beautiful landmarks such as the Casino. The Canfield Casino is not only a historical building but one that generates revenue for the city of Saratoga Springs. This latest course of events is not only bad form; it is downright devastating for those who intended on getting married at the Casino. Does the city intend on refunding money for weddings they clearly cannot accommodate? How will couples be able to secure another wedding location on such short notice? Is the city of Saratoga prepared for being sued for such debacle?
